Welcome to my son Roberts webpage ~ He lives with Traumatic Brain Injury

Here you will learn a little about my son Robert Schifferns as he makes his way through life as a TBI.  Robert is the only child I have. He was involved in a car wreck on May 20, 2000. From the scene of the accident they took him by life flight to University Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Robert spent 61 days there and most of that time in ICU. On July 21, 2000 I brought Robert home thanks to Chandler Oklahoma's ambulance service.  Robert is a joy to our lives even though he is in a unconscious state of mind. The doctors all say Robert will be a vegetable for the rest of his life but I will not accept that prognosis thus I keep going each and every day with Robert. Robert's injuries included massive closed head injuries, shoulder and collar bone broken, bladder torn, lungs collapsed, face and sinuses crushed, urethra torn, heart bruised on the left side, along with being a diabetic.

Robert lived in Oklahoma City at the time of the wreck. He had come home to visit with his family. In Oklahoma City Robert had his own business as a D. J. and also worked in a grocery store as an assistant manager. Robert had his whole life ahead of him and will again some day.

Thank God Robert is a very strong man or he wouldn't be here with us now. If there is any thing in the world I would love to have happen now, is that my son would come out of this and ask me for some thing to eat!  Thank you for visiting Robert's webpage and please fill free to check out his links and please come back soon. . .

On this home page, the "doorway" to my site, I'll introduce myself and talk about my reasons for wanting a web site.

I am Robert's mother Tracy. I wanted to make Robert a page so that people would enjoy it and come back to visit as often as they wish. I would also like people to know what it might be like to be a total caretaker and I mean with not much help from the state you live in and no nurses.

This is Robert in his chair several months after the wreck.  What a change we see in him!
